About the Artist
George Glenn Newell, best known for his depictions of cattle in pastoral landscapes, was born in Barrien County, Michigan in 1870. After attending Albion College in Michigan and Columbia University in New York, where he studied art, Newell pursued additional artistic training at the National Academy of Design, where he studied under Edgar Melville Ward (1849-1915).
