About the Artist
George Debereiner was born in the town of Arzberg in Bavaria, Germany in 1860. As a young man he immigrated to the United States and settled in Chicago. He began his artistic training at the Chicago Art Institute and continued his studies in Munich and Berlin.[1] He often returned to Europe to paint in Holland, Germany, and Italy.[2] Debereiner was living and working as artist in Cincinnati as early as 1894.[3] He married Rosa Becker of Cincinnati in May of 1894.[4]
